Good place to begin calculating loads your system can handle.  If you plug into running auto then all would work, otherwise pay attention to wattage of devices to ensure your battery systems can handle... for instance the small scale xantrex packs shown here max out at around 400 watts.

If you're not running from a automobile 12volt port (with engine running) and you want to run these from solar then you would probably need :

    • A larger battery such as the 105ah solar battery shown in large solar (~$100)
    • solar panel to charge it (estimating $200)
    • a charge controller to ensure battery is not overcharged ($30-$60)
    • a 1 Killiwatt inverter such as this one for around $100

Yielding around $450 + cost of appliances.

Typicly one wouldn't want to run any cooking device other than a micro wave  via solar power!

Any thing that has an element in it will drain your battery bank in no time! These 12 volt cooking devices should only be used in a running auto!Wink

Hmm... i guess you're right.   Hard to think of microwaves being that much better since my microwave draws as much as my toaster oven (around 1.2 KW), but i guess i guess my microwave also finishes cooking alot faster... anything else could use a grill too Cool.

For all my cooking I use the micro wave or a propane stove I have seen a solar oven  but not played with one! The draw back is you need a sunny daySad
