This seems to be a good battery to use for a wide variety of solar purposes.  Its AGM which is very clean and safe, 105 Ah which can output 105 watts for 12 hours (or 12 watts/1amp for 105 hours).   Cost is around $150.

Although you could use this to build a large battery bank, this is also a good size battery to use alone in small solar configurations.  For small solar buy a cheap charge controller such as this one for around $35-40 which can handle panels up to around 80 watts.
